Workshops and Education: Diss workshop - August 2012
Exploring the Landscape: the Art of Photography and Walking
Diss, Norfolk: Monday 13th August – Wednesday 15th August
This 3 day workshop will take you on an intimate photographic journey along the old paths and rights of way in the surrounding landscape of Diss.
For Justin’s own photographs from the East Anglian landscape the acts of photography and walking are intrinsically connected:
“My work is about a very personal exploration of a place – I walk, look closely, poke around the landscape, take a photograph, and walk some more. The routes of the paths and ways in Norfolk and Suffolk provide a starting point for entering into the landscape both physically and psychologically, as well as being a point from which to deviate from.”
Join Justin as he shares his experience of photographing the landscape in this way and guides you on your own exploration with your camera in hand.
This workshop is open to all levels of photographer. The focus will be on using the camera as a means to see and enter the landscape rather than the technical aspects of digital photography. Each participant will be expected to work on their own personal photo essay that explores the route of one path. They will be encouraged to photograph intuitively and not to be afraid to make mistakes in the process.
