Exploring Place with a Camera
A weekend photography workshop with Justin Partyka and Bee Farrell
Friday 10 December (6.30pm) - Sunday 12 December 2010
7 Hatton Street, London, NW8 8PL
This workshop is intended for architects and city / master planners who are interested in the role of photography within their profession, or who enjoy it as a hobby. The weekend will be about using photography as a means to explore and document place and will provide an opportunity to develop photographic skills in a creative and supportive environment. Participants will work on individual projects, which when brought together will present a collective vision of place.
Using the architectural offices of Terry Farrell and Partners as a base, the exploration of place will be the Edgware Road and its environs. This is a dynamic and diverse area with a strong Middle Eastern presence, busy Church Street Market and the more serene areas of Little Venice and the Regents Canal.
Requirements: a digital camera (a point and shoot is perfectly ok), access to a computer to download the photographs, and a memory stick.
One free place is being offered to a BA or MA student of architecture or master planning studying in London. To apply please describe why you would like to do this workshop and what you hope to achieve from it – 250 words max.
Cost: £160 - including weekend breakfasts, Friday appetisers and Sunday tea and cake.
12 participants maximum (participants from Justin’s previous workshops may apply)
